About FORT
Founded in 1992 as Friends of Oncology and Radiotherapy Trust, FORT Cancer Charity is registered with the Charity Commissioners.
FORT Cancer Charity is dedicated to supporting those within our community whose lives have been touched by cancer. In doing so we support the Oncology department of the Portsmouth group of hospitals, covering Gosport, Fareham, Havant, Petersfield, Chichester and Bognor Regis.
So far nearly £2 million of equipment has been purchased. The charity also provide complementary therapies and counselling throughout our community and provide respite accommodation offering patients and families a welcome break from the everyday stresses of coping with cancer.
Complementary Therapies
FORT offers up to five free treatments of reflexology, massage or Indian Head massage to people who have been diagnosed with cancer. Therapies are provided in various locations in and around the Portsmouth area.
FORT therapists are well qualified and experienced practitioners who have also received additional training in cancer awareness. This Outreach Service is developing as a result of high patient demand. Many patients look to complementary therapies to provide relaxation and support during and after their medical treatment for cancer.
FORT feels it can help to fulfill this need by providing safe, competent and caring therapists who can provide therapies in a relaxing atmosphere.
