Major Appeals

The 'UYB' Appeal

Our current appeal (UYB) is to raise £130,000 to pruchase a papillion 50 machine which will be based at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

This innovative piece of equipment will treat early rectal cancers without major surgery and the need for a lifetime living with a permanent stoma (Colostomy bag).

Currently there is only one Papillion in the UK in the north of England. With your support FORT Cancer Charity will be able to provide a second machine here in the South.

The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Councillor Mike Blake  kindly chose FORT as the benefactor of his Good FORTune appeal.

The appeal which ran throughout his mayoral year will go toward supporting the work of the charity. As a patron of the charity  FORT very much enjoyed working with the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress Susie Sanderson. The appeal raised over £40,000 and has enabled FORT Cancer Charity to purchase a one stop hysteroscopy service and also make a contribution to the UYB Appeal.

Previous Appeals

Previous appeals have raised around 2 million pounds for various causes.

Previous major appeals include purchasing a Micro selection machine, Multi-Leaf-Collinator, the refurbishment of the in patient ward at St Mary's Hospital, the complete refurbishment of the radiotherapy reception area.

By far one of the most popular has been the Greenwood lodge appeal which raised money for the opening of a holiday home in the New Forest. Greenwood Lodge is a two bedroom lodge cabin within an idyllic woodland setting and just 800 yards from the waters edge at Milford on Sea. Ideally situated to explore the natural beauty of Britains newest national park, The New Forest, Lymington and the Isle of Wight, Highcliffe Castle, Christchurch priory, Beaulieu and Paultons Park. The site offers Gymnasium, indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room and health spa. Also on site is a golf club, tennis courts, bars restaurant and shop.

Greenwood Lodge can be booked for one week at a time (Not January) and is available to those who have received a diagnosis of Cancer and would welcome a break away with their loved ones.
